Our People

Dave Ivell

General Manager
45 Years Experience

Mr. Ivell has 45 years of experience in the fertilizer industry. He has extensive knowledge of processes for the production of granular fertilizer and his experience includes both design and start-up work. Mr. Ivell has traveled extensively, visiting almost 40 countries in the execution of his duties.

Mr. Ivell worked for a fertilizer producer for many years before joining JESA and spent most of that time licensing technology overseas. Prior to his current position Mr. Ivell has held roles as Director of Process Technology, Manager of Projects and Manager of Process and Technology in the Lakeland, Florida office.

James Byrd

Manager of Phosphate Fertilizer Technology
27 Years Experience

James has over 27 years of experience in the fertilizer industry with a strong background in Phosphoric Acid Plant Operations and Design. His career started in operations and has transitioned to plant design and operational evaluation at Jacobs Engineering now Worley.  

James has performed as the Process Lead in many new greenfield phosphoric acid plants and various studies evaluating efficiencies in plants throughout the world.

 

Kevin Pazda

Manager of Engineering
40 Years Experience

Kevin has over 40 years of experience, in the fertilizer and chemical process industries. His experience encompasses all phases of engineering and construction. This includes ascertaining Customer requirements, writing specifications, arranging equipment, piping design, stress analysis, MTO, writing requisitions, and project coordination and construction support.

He currently holds the position of Manager of Engineering. In that role he is managing mechanical, E&I, CSA, piping. His background is in the design of Piping/Mechanical systems.

 

Gary Fowler

Lab/Pilot Plant Beneficiation Technology Manager
32 Years Experience

Gary has over 32 years of experience in the operation, maintenance and design of beneficiation plants and mining operations.

This experience includes knowledge of best demonstrated practices and industry standards in phosphate mining and beneficiation, methods to upgrade existing operations including technical audits to improve efficiency, recovery and grade, and the integration of good metallurgical accounting practices into operations and process design.

Gary has expertise in the operation and optimization of conventional flotation cells, flotation columns, hydrosizers, hydrocyclones, crushers, grinding mills and screens. 

Elton Curran

Senior Phosphate Fertilizer Specialist
33 Years Experience

Elton has over 33 years of engineering experience, primarily in the phosphate industry. 

His responsibilities include supervising process engineers and designers, involved in phosphoric acid and granular fertilizer greenfield projects, revamps and plant audits. He has substantial field experience in phosphate plants.

Elton is currently one of our Senior Phosphate Fertilizer Specialist for both phosphoric acid and granulator fertilizers.

 

DD Desai

Senior Phosphate Fertilizer Specialist
30 Years Experience

DD has nearly 30 years of experience in the phosphate industry, including operation and design of Di-Hydrate and Hemi-Hydrate process for phosphoric acid. He has worked on commissioning, start- up debottlenecking, capacity up-grades, trouble shooting, performance guarantee testing, demolishing and in-situ replacement of major process equipment for phosphoric acid plants. 

In addition, he has operation, start up and design experience of granular fertilizers DAP/APS/NPK plants.  

Design experience includes developing/reviewing of process deliverables like PFD, P&IDs, interlock matrix, piping specification, TBA, material selection diagram, basis of design, equipment data sheets, line list, tie in list etc.
